South Korean singer Hang Mioku was once admired for her beauty and talent — but her desperate pursuit of perfection turned into a horrifying obsession with cosmetic surgery. What began as an innocent attempt to preserve her youthful appearance quickly spiraled out of control.
At first, Hang received professional silicone injections, but when her face began to swell unnaturally, doctors refused to continue. Obsessed with maintaining her altered look, she began injecting herself, disastrously using vegetable oil instead of silicone. The results were catastrophic — her face became grotesquely enlarged, yet her fixation on beauty and envy of others kept her going.
During her years in Japan, Hang even found doctors willing to inject her again, later confessing that she “couldn’t stand people who were more beautiful” and wanted to be flawless at any cost.

Over the course of ten operations, doctors removed large quantities of silicone and oil from her face and neck. Although her beauty could not be fully restored, the procedures relieved her pain and allowed her to regain basic functions like closing her mouth.
Today, at 58 years old, Hang Mioku continues to share her story publicly as a powerful warning against the dangers of cosmetic obsession. Her experience has sparked conversations in South Korea — a country where plastic surgery is increasingly common — reminding others that the pursuit of beauty, when taken too far, can destroy the very essence of who you are.
